North Street stage: Music for dancing to the hottest Latin beats!

  •  
    • Children’s area
    • K-ID’s BMV from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
    • Information booths
    • Arts and crafts booths
    • Food from the  Americas
  • Latin street dance party

  •  
    • Interactive activities at the new Indianapolis Marion County Public Library.  With PBS Kids Characters Maya and Miguel arriving at 1:00 via a horse drawn carriage.
    • Performance by the Indianapolis Children’s Choir
    • Performance by members of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, featuring the work of Gabriela Frank and Pavel Polenco-Safadit

La Plaza’s 2008 Fiesta Indianapolis will involve the following:

  • Entertainment
    The traditional sounds of Mariachi, Flamenco, Tango and Orchestra groups will fill the stage.  

  • Food Plaza
    The dining opportunities include foods from many Latin American countries, Tex-Mex and more traditional festival offerings. 

  • Booths
    Along the sides of the American Legion Mall, there will be a variety of vendors, corporate information and community service booths.  Cultural organizations and embassies are invited to bring educational and display items to enlighten the public about the many Hispanic cultures and services.

  • The Cultural Village and Children’s Area (located on the Mall).  FREE

·        Performance by the INDIANAPOLIS CHILDREN’S CHOIR

·        Remarks by Dignitaries

 

·   3:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M.   McDonald’s presents RONALD MCDONALD

·  4:15 P.M.-5:00 P.M.    members of the INDIANAPOLIS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, featuring the work of Gabriela Frank and Pavel Polenco-Safadit.

The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra is one of only 18 full time orchestras in the 

United States and employs 87 world class musicians to perform a wide variety of orchestral music throughout the year. On February 27 and 28, 2009, the ISO is proud to present the world premiere of Peregrinos by internationally renowned composer Gabriela Lena Frank. Peregrinos was commissioned by the Indianapolis Symphony to specifically reflect the experience of Latino immigrants that have chosen to make their home in central 

Indiana.

No outside food or beverage is permitted on festival grounds. A wide selection of vendors will be offering delicious food and drinks!

Glass bottles, coolers, laser pointers, weapons, animals, bicycles and rollerblades are not permitted at Fiesta.

Join the Indiana Latino Institute for the largest Latino fiesta in Indiana at the American Legion Mall and the Veterans Memorial Plaza from noon until midnight.
