The Public Policy committee exists to work with policymakers and other opinion leaders to enact legislation that supports the mission of Smoke Free Indy. Key areas of interest include local smoke free air policy and protection of local control, funding comprehensive tobacco prevention and cessation programs, and increasing and maintaining the state’s cigarette tax to at least meet the national average.

In working to achieve these policy goals, the committee will recommend next steps to policymakers, offer strategies for educating opinion leaders about the key areas of interest, monitor positions, and represent the coalition regarding matters of policy and legislation.
